Two-thirds of patients and carers experience NHS admin problems

Healthwatch England and The King's Fund have published their latest findings looking if people’s experience of NHS communication had improved since the joint report was published.

Key findings  

  • Two-thirds (66%) of NHS patients and carers experienced at least one admin problem in the past year, up from 64% in 2024.
  • Nearly a quarter (23%) of people who used the NHS in the past 12 months received an appointment invitation after the appointment had already happened, up from 20% in 2024.
  • Three in five (60%) people who’d experienced poor admin felt that NHS money was being wasted, while (57%) said they felt their own time was being wasted.
