The Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission checks all hospitals, care homes, GP practices, etc. to see if they meet national standards. They

  • register care providers.
  • monitor, inspect and rate services.
  • take action to protect people who use services.

You can find out what they have to say about individual services in your area by visiting their website.

If you have experience or evidence of an issue with an NHS or care service you can also report this to the CQC.

Social Care

Social care services in Coventry are the responsibility of Coventry City Council. Social care is  a range of personal and practical services which enable disabled or older people to live their lives. It might be help with dressing, washing, eating or other everyday things.

Unlike NHS services, social care services are not necessarily free at the point of delivery. They are means-tested and assessment criteria are used to decide what services are needed and who pays.
