Prescription Ordering Direct Coventry (POD)

Healthwatch Coventry has provided evidence to a review of the POD service

Local health planners recently asked for feedback about the Prescription Ordering Direct (POD), which operates in Coventry and part of Warwickshire

POD is used by the majority of GP practices in Coventry as the route for their patients to re-order repeat medication.

The local Integrated Care Board is considering if POD should continue as feedback about the service is not very good and a review has said it is not good value for money. A call for evidence  recently closed. 

Healthwatch Coventry has experience of POD from the time it was set up and regularly hears feedback from local people about the service.

Our Steering Group discussed the potential impact of closure for local people. We gathered together the other information we have and wrote a response which we sent to the ICB.
