Healthwatch Coventry welcomes new provider

In my message published in the Healthwatch Coventry Annual Report earlier this year I referred to the past year being one of major change for Health and Social Care in the UK. I added that more change was on the way.
That change is taking place even now, and it has affected Healthwatch Coventry itself. The Act of Parliament under which Healthwatch functions requires each local authority to commission Healthwatch for its area. That is subject to regular review, and Coventry City Council has now placed Healthwatch Coventry in the hands of Citizens Advice Mid Mercia (CAMM).
The start of our relationship with CAMM is proving to be very positive, and with their support we will continue to be the champion of local people regarding the services they receive from the NHS and from social care providers. Our service will continue to listen to and take account of the views and opinions of Coventry people, analysing what is required for their health and wellbeing, to identify where there has been shortcomings and to encourage health and social care providers to adapt and change where necessary.
The shape and nature of services in the changing health and social care environment will require continued vigilance by Healthwatch Coventry, and the citizens of Coventry can be assured of that being maintained.
